Overview

Undoubtedly the Mediterranean and Atlantic Corridors, as well as the Ebro Axis, are the most important transport routes of the Iberian Peninsula. The synergies that can be derived from a good interconnection between the three are of great importance for the socioeconomic development of an area that concentrates most of the industrial and logistic activity of Spain. For this reason, this Conference aims to put value into potential traffic that can be used by rail, as well as to identify the necessary actions in the infrastructure related to this transport system to achieve this (adaptation of lines, intermodal terminals and Connections with industrial estates, terminals and ports). The involvement of the European, Spanish and regional administrations, as well as the collaboration with the private sector, is an essential issue to ensure that the railways have a share in the whole of inland freight transport that is close to the average of The EU (17 ÷ 18%).
