Overview
For all generations, unrestricted individual mobility is crucial for social exchange and participation. A self-determined life in old age therefore requires support in coping with distances.
The ACCESS project is developing a signage system that makes it easier for elderly people with physical disabilities to travel to foreign cities and holiday regions. For this purpose, a mobile application is being developed which, as a large-area guidance system, enables barrier-free route planning and navigation. The optimal path within buildings can also be queried. The mobile application is developed for standard devices such as smartphones and should be easy to use. This is ensured by the involvement of the Federal Association of Senior Citizens' Organisations (BAGSO) and the National Coordination Office for Tourism for All (NatKo)
The developed guidance system is implemented and tested in different cities and regions, among others in Koblenz, Görlitz, Nuremberg and the county Spree-Neiße. This should be the basis for a nationwide distribution. Standards are also defined and developed into a seal of approval for the participating cities. A network with tourist information and tourism service providers is also planned.
