Overview
For all generations, unrestricted individual mobility is crucial for social exchange and participation. A self-determined life in old age therefore requires support in coping with distances.
The aim of the EMN-MOVES project is to provide seamless mobility chains with the help of technical support systems and volunteers. To this end, strategies to support mobility in old age and health restrictions are being developed in different residential areas of the region. The project is based on the idea that on the one hand, mobility needs and barriers are to be recorded and on the other hand, extensive mobility services and technical mobility aids are to be provided in different ways. The requirements vary depending on the person, the neighbourhood and the region.
The project relies on neighbourly commitment and individual help as well as the most modern ICT-supported procedures for the simple and optimized provision of suitable mobility aids. All services are supervised by the full-time and volunteer staff of a service centre. The volunteers also act as staircase controllers or accompanying staff and can be called upon if required to help overcome building barriers in the neighbourhood.
