Automated and connected driving is an integral part of the future intelligent and sustainable mobility. The implementation of the driving functions depends on, in particular, the technological advancement in electronics and sensors. Hence, not only the individual component but also the entire system must be made fail-operational so that at any time a safe drive is guaranteed.  As in fully automated driving, people no longer intervene even in case of failure, the system must be able to react to unforeseen events and always remain stable.
