Overview
In 2002 the research team, first in the Czech Republic, were performed the representative survey of willingness to pay for reducing the risk of death in a traffic accident. The result was the determination of prices of statistical life at the level of CZK 20 million.
In 2008 it was revised and supplemented the part concerning the external costs of road accidents. For the valuation of external costs of road accidents was used methodology for calculating losses from traffic accidents on roads.

Based on a model for comparing revenues and costs of the transport sector the project has created a draft methodology for determining the external costs of the road transport. Proposal is made in the form of the text containing a sequence of mathematical formulas for individual external costs of road transport.
The design methodology are given expressions to determine the external costs related to traffic accidents, emissions of pollutants, climate change, noise and congestion.
