Overview
The objective of the project is to summarize information about a web based platform called KIRA. The acronym stands for Transport Information System and Database in Hungarian language.
Results
The system can generate detailed GIS information for the user about the Hungarian national road network and its connection to other specialized systems such as railway, bicycle, bridges, accidental data and cadastral parcel information as well. Information is obtained by reading the article on future plans and prospects which characterize KIRA system as a truly user-friendly platform.
The structure of the KIRA system is integrating components based on open source standards. The system has a number of advantages, but it also has its drawbacks. As the advantage we can list one of the more economical design, simple upgradeability, the introduction of new technologies and applications in the system. There is also the disadvantage of the individual modules, such as Apache Tomcat web server, or the upgrade enabling Geoserver.
