Overview

Background & Policy context

The elaboration of the standard SIA 269/2 „Maintenance for concrete structures” is part of the SIA-project „Maintenance of existing structures”. It is foreseen that in addition to a basic standard material specific codes are made available.

Within the scope of the maintenance planning these standards concern mainly the constructive measures. Besides the European standard EN 1504 becomes effective. The elaboration of a national foreword and annex of the European code are coordinated with the project „Maintenance or concrete structures”. At present no work is done on that issue. After the beginning of the project „Maintenance for concrete structures” these tasks are dealt within coordination with the SIA-project.

Objectives

The SIA 269/2 is part of the overall package conservation standards for civil engineering structures. Significant technical and scientific bases aimed at civil engineering structures to be developed. It is to develop a consistent and user-friendly standards in the field preservation of concrete structures, which is the new structural standard SIA 262. In addition, the standard should be characterized by efficiency, brevity, practical and high information content. Furthermore, the European product and design standard EN 1504 should be integrated. The currently known gaps in the preservation of concrete structures is to close, so the planners a set of rules is available, with which the maintenance can be professionally and comparatively planned.

Methodology
