Overview
The development of complex technology solutions landscaping slopes of highways and roads in the vicinity of specially protected areas, where linear structures grassed improperly pose a significant threat to native fauna and flora due to the spread of invasive species. By supporting occurrence of native plants on these sites we can however create new habitats for many endangered species of butterflies and conveniently connect their last isolated metapopulations in neighbouring protected areas. Introduction of the native hemiparasitic plants on grassy slopes and low-productive grass-forb mixtures with high portion of butterfly’s host plants sown in new constructions will not support only biodiversity, but also reduce financial and energy costs in the long term maintenance of roadside slopes.
