Rail transport: Thematic Research Summary

Railways deliver important economic, social and environmental benefits, particularly important when considering the current policy and societal emphasis on sustainable transport. It is increasingly useful in relieving traffic congestion and reducing road accident numbers. This paper provides a structured guide to the results of Research and Technical Development projects relating to Rail Transport, carried out in transport research programmes throughout the European Research Area.
