Sustainable mobility

Over recent decades, social and economic opportunities have been underpinned by growth in mobility. But if current trends continue, there will be alarming increases in congestion, greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on oil imports. This can only be tackled using an integrated mix of policy measures. Therefore, through its transport research programme, the European Union has targeted a range of actions to help policy-makers develop effective solutions.
