Conference on Harmonised European Approaches for Transport Costing and Project Assessment

In a project financed by the European Commission new, harmonised guidelines for the evaluation of transport projects and policies of interest at EU level were developed. These guidelines reflect both existing practice and latest scientific knowledge.

In this conference the current state of European transport project appraisal will be presented as well as the suggestions for a harmonisation of methods with a focus on the valuation of:

- time and congestion,

- accident risks,

- health impacts and nuisances from pollutant and noise emissions, and

- infrastructure costs.

The implications of the new guidelines and differences to existing guidelines will be demonstrated by a number of TEN-T project appraisals.
