Conference "Young people and transport jobs: making transport careers more attractive"
Description
The European Commission's Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) is organising a conference on 15 October 2025 in Brussels, Belgium, focused on making transport careers more attractive to young people across the European Union. This unique event will bring together young people aged 18 to 30 from EU Member States and representatives from the transport sector to explore how to create more appealing, inclusive, and future-oriented career opportunities in transport.
As the transport sector faces evolving workforce needs and challenges in attracting young talent, this conference provides a critical platform for direct dialogue between aspiring professionals and industry leaders. The event addresses the crucial issue of workforce development in transport, spanning all modes including road transport, urban public transport, rail, maritime transport and ports, inland waterways, and air transport.
The conference will feature small group sessions and interactive activities centred on jobs and careers in transport. Participants will engage in discussions covering essential topics such as skills development, working conditions, career visibility, and job satisfaction. Through these interactive formats, attendees will reflect on what makes transport careers appealing to young people and identify successful practices in attracting future talent. The sessions will also explore how the transport sector must adapt to meet the expectations and aspirations of the next generation workforce.
