The European Union Agency for Railways is hosting the ERTMS 2026 Conference from 21 to 23 April 2026 at the Cité des Congrès in Valenciennes, France. This distinguished conference will present a comprehensive agenda featuring conference sessions and workshops spanning the full spectrum of topics related to the European Rail Traffic Management System. The event brings together policymakers, industry representatives, railway undertakings, infrastructure managers, and key stakeholders to share experiences and drive forward the rollout of ERTMS in Europe and beyond, supporting the modernisation and integration of railway signalling systems essential for achieving a single European rail area.

By enabling trains to operate safely at higher speeds whilst reducing infrastructure costs and improving capacity utilisation, ERTMS directly supports the EU's objectives of making rail transport more competitive, energy-efficient, and attractive to both passengers and freight operators.

The three-day programme addresses critical aspects of ERTMS deployment and future development through multiple workshop sessions. The conference provides an in-depth exploration of ongoing projects and successful deployment cases of ERTMS across Europe and worldwide, focusing on the challenges encountered, the improvements achieved, and strategies for cost reduction and optimisation of the certification process.
