Description

The Association for European Transport is hosting the 54th European Transport Conference from 9 to 11 September 2026 at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto, Portugal. As Europe's oldest multi-disciplinary, multi-stream annual transport conference, ETC provides a welcoming and inclusive space for sharing, learning, inspiring, and network building, crossing all stages of transport planning from analyses to delivery and covering all transport modes. The conference attracts transport policymakers, practitioners, and researchers from across Europe and beyond, encouraging participation from professionals at all levels of experience.

Building on the success of ETC 2025 in Antwerp, which brought together over 500 transport professionals for engaging sessions and inspiring networking, the 2026 edition in Porto continues this tradition of excellence whilst exploring new developments, discussions, challenges, and potential policy and infrastructure interventions shaping Europe's transport future.

The conference covers an extensive range of transport topics spanning local to global scales, from aviation to active modes, from research, modelling, and financing to implementation, delivery, and evaluation, and from short-term solutions to long-term planning. The call for papers invites submissions addressing diverse themes across twelve programme committees, ensuring comprehensive coverage of contemporary transport challenges and innovations. Topics encompass sustainable mobility strategies, urban transport solutions, freight and logistics optimisation, transport infrastructure development, policy and governance frameworks, transport economics and financing, safety and security, environmental impacts and climate action, digital transformation and intelligent transport systems, accessibility and social equity, multimodal integration, and emerging technologies including automation and electrification.
