Overview
Mobility around the large cities in Romania is today confronted with difficult situations: public transport is poorly developed, the use of personal automotive vehicles rises, urban planning doesn’t observe transport axes and alternative transport or walking receive little encouragement.
A situation actually familiar to the developed countries in Western Europe two or three decades ago when congestion and frequent traffic bottlenecks have led to new strategies in the organisation of urban and peri-urban mobility. The core of these concerns is public transport development, including infrastructure, vehicles, tickets, but also legislative and administrative aspects.
