Overview
Transport is the engine of economic growth, both generating and sustaining an increased standard of living of families all over the globe. For decades to come, demand for transport is set to continue to rise. The EU estimates, for instance, that freight transport volume in the Western European countries will more than double by 2030, and even grow faster in the new EU member states.
Greater transport efficiency holds the key to coping with further growth in a sustainable way. During an interactive half-day conference, high-level politicians, logistics and transport experts will explore how the efficiency of freight transport can be maximised to make a real difference. In particular, they will discuss the introduction of new technologies, improving fuel economy and using alternative fuels, but also the optimisation of logistics and how real free circulation of freight in a European market would help both the economy and the environment.
