“MOVE TOGETHER” is a new EU 7th Framework project aiming to raise citizens awareness and appreciation of EU research on sustainable urban transport. European research on urban transport contributes to developing the best options to achieve a sustainable urban mobility for a greener, smarter, more accessible and safer city for all. MOVE TOGETHER organises with the European Economic and Social Committee the Conference “Moving Together towards a New Culture for Urban Mobility” on 16 June 2008, Brussels.
The conference will confront scientific expertise with the everyday knowledge of those, who ultimately determine Europe's future mobility: i.e. European citizens.Through the participation of a panel of 27 lay citizens, selected randomly from all the 27 Member States, and invited stakeholders and EU policy makers, including eminent EESC members, the conference will make a key contribution to the above European Council objective. Moreover, by establishing a dialogue between lay citizens - who represent the different cultures and urban settings of Europe - and experienced stakeholders and decision-makers in the urban transport sector, the conference will also provide significant inputs to the EC Green Paper “Towards a new culture for urban mobility”.
