Overview
This seminar will assess opportunities for UK transport to integrate new technologies, utilise big data and the policy requirements for the integration of autonomous vehicles and transformation of transport systems.
Following the announcement in the Queen’s Speech of the Modern Transport Bill, with measures to increase investment in the next generation of transport and develop the insurance framework for driverless cars, discussion is expected on next steps and implementation for transport technology in the 21st Century.
There will be discussion about latest innovation, supply chain and competition trial progress and opportunities, as well as an academic look at the future shape of UK transport. With new vehicle standards coming into force, sessions will also look at changing consumer behaviours as part of targets to reduce climate change, pollution and costs for passengers and commuters as well as reducing congestion and demand overall on the network.
At this early stage, we are delighted to include presentations from Iain Forbes, Head, Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, Department for Transport; Ray Ashworth, Managing Director, DAF Trucks; Alberto Di Felice, Senior Analyst, Government Affairs, Qualcomm; Vernon Everitt, Managing Director, Customers, Communication and Technology, Transport for London; Russell Goodenough, Client Managing Director, Transport Sector, Fujitsu; Steve Gooding, Director, RAC Foundation; Professor Nick Reed, Director, Academy, Transport Research Laboratory; David Williams, Technical Director, AXA Insurance and a speaker confirmed from the Transport Systems Catapult.
