Overview
This conference will provide a timely opportunity to examine the future of the freight sector, and the wider challenges facing freight in the UK.
Delegates will discuss key developments affecting the sector, its customers and partners in infrastructure, with the conference timed to discuss the results of the Transport Select Committee inquiry into the shortfall of 50,000 drivers in the sector, recommending action to boost recruitment and retention, improve diversity and strengthen training standards. With the recent publication of the Transport for the North Freight and Logistics Report, sessions will also look at the potential for national co-ordination and strategy on issues such as congestion and road infrastructure development.
Further sessions will look at priorities for environmental sustainability in the sector following the rollout of Low Emission Zones around the country, as well as the launch of funding for a trial of low emission freight technology and an additional ‘Green Truck Fund’, as delegates consider the future of European emissions standards and across fleets.
