Overview
The 4th VREF (Volvo Research and Educational Foundation) Conference on Urban Freight is being held in Gothenburg, Sweden on 14-16 October 2020. The title for this year’s event is Urban freight and liveable cities: Interactions between planning, design and business for scalable innovations.
The conference will discuss current issues that influence urban freight research and the complexity of designing urban space and managing freight traffic flows for liveable cities. It will showcase the latest research, in both oral and poster presentations, as well as including invited presentations, panels and break-out sessions. The conference will discuss innovative solutions from the perspective of public authorities, transport operators, retailers, architects, planners, other industry stakeholders and researchers.
The call for abstracts is open until 10 April 2020. Selected themes include:
- Sustainable urban logistics;
- Last-mile pickup and delivery;
- Integrating freight into the design of urban space;
- Urban freight policy and planning;
- Implications of logistics innovations on urban freight;
- The importance of real estate owners in managing freight flows.
The event is organised by the Urban Freight Platform (UFP); an initiative supported by VREF.
