ANNOUNCEMENT
On 4 October 2023, the European Commission announced the European Declaration on Cycling. The Declaration recognises cycling as one of the most sustainable, accessible and healthy transport modes. It also highlights its capacity and potential to deliver added value for the EU economy.
It lists key principles and commitments that will guide future action and boost the modal share of cycling across Member States. These principles aim to support the EU in achieving the European Green Deal objectives, the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy and the Zero Pollution Action Plan.
