The European Commission has launched a new EUR 98 million call to support research and innovation under the Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities Mission: Changing urban spaces and mindsets to accelerate the transition to climate neutrality. This initiative aims to help 100 cities from EU Member States and 12 cities from Horizon Europe-associated countries transition to climate neutrality by 2030.

The call, open until 11 February 2025, focuses on four key areas:

• Rethinking urban spaces for climate neutrality
• Creating zero-pollution cities
• Mobility management and behavioural change
• Integrating peri-urban areas into the climate neutrality transition
