Smart Cities and Communities: Invitation for Commitments Now Open

ANNOUNCEMENT

As pre-announced in February’s TRIP Newsletter, on 28 February the EC launched an “Invitation for Commitments” to collect feedback from cities and their industry partners on how to make cities smarter. The EC will accept inputs until mid-June. The Commission will then seek to analyse, group and promote the best plans and initiatives.
The initiative is led by the European Innovation Partnership on Smart Cities and Communities (EIP-SCC), an alliance joining together cities, industry and citizens to improve urban life through more sustainable, integrated solutions at the interface of energy, transport and ICT technologies and infrastructures.
Expressing an Invitation for Commitments will enable cities to actively engage in the EIP-SCC, having the possibility to learn and network with other communities and stakeholders from all across Europe. At the same time, the Commitments will provide the EC with a better understanding of ambitions, barriers and needs of cities willing to become smarter.
More information can be found on the EC website.
