The Transport Research Arena (TRA) is Europe’s biggest Transport Research Conference. Initiated in 2006, it takes place in a different European city every two years. The TRA is supported by the European Commission, by CEDR (Conference of European Directors of Roads) and the European Technology Platforms ERTRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council), ERRAC (European Rail Research Advisory Council), WATERBORNE and ALICE (Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration).
From 16 to 19 April 2018 the Transport Research Arena took place in Vienna, under the motto "a digital era for transport: solutions for society, economy and environment". Around 3,000 international experts discussed the latest research results and future developments in mobility and transport.
Daily highlights from this year’s TRA can be found on their YouTube channel or at the dedicated TRA website. Highlights include the closing address from Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science & Innovation, who discussed the importance of Transport as a key economic driver for the EU and announced the next conference will take place in Helsinki in 2020.
