Overview

Background & Policy context

Well-developed, cost-effective transport and logistics systems are a basic prerequisite for prosperity and industrial growth in Sweden. Logistics skills on an international level will give companies based in Sweden the opportunity to establish effective, customer-specific supply networks to support effective business logistics systems for a global market, despite Sweden's peripheral location.

Strategic Objectives

E-commerce is changing marketplaces and the way in which business is conducted. It is also creating new business opportunities. Leading companies in the transport services sector can expand their business in value chains by enhancing service levels, for example third party logistics and product customisation at end customer level. The Swedish logistical hubs are ideally placed for expansion when Eastern European countries join the EU.
