Overview
While movement modalities are increasing and becoming more diverse, private cars, public transport or "slow modes" cannot individually be sufficient to meet every mobility need. Therefore it seems appropriate to imagine a whole wider range of services that will enable - through the combination of transport modes - the implementation of a global travel strategy in tune with the objectives of sustainable development.
The main objective of this group is to innovate in services to improve diversity and quality in transport supply for all users, including those with reduced accessibility to transport. Improved services should facilitate modal shifts from private cars to public transport.
This operational group is organised around four themes:
- Services in transport interchange/transhipment centres: these centres are essential to facilitate intermodality, provided they offer functional qualities and good services
- Accessibility for persons with reduced mobility
- Business trips
- Journeys in shared vehicles: several demonstrations in this field have been conducted in recent years. An analysis of their results is needed to define how this system can be developed and perpetuated as an alternative to the use and ownership of private cars.
