VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland is the largest multi-technological applied research organisation in the Nordic countries. It was established in 1942 and is part of the Finnish innovation system under the domain of the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. It is a not-for-profit research organisation with a turnover of €245 million and with 2700 staff.
VTT provides solutions, services, research and technology, related not only to transport but a very wide range of sectors, including electronics, energy, information technology, pharmaceuticals, forestry, logistics, chemicals and industrial systems.
VTT's website provides a database of all VTT's publications in the public domain, covering all sectors (not only transport). Over 50 000 publications are available and some 2000 publications annually are made by VTT and added to the database.

Publications can be searched by:
- Free text search,
- Name of author,
- Publication year,
- Language of publication (most are in Finnish, followed by English; and a smaller number in Swedish, German, French or Russian),
- Publication type (journal article, conference proceeding, VTT publication or working paper, patent, etc),
- Industry (VTT's 11 business lines: those relevant to transport are: Electronics, Machines and vehicles, Services and logistics, Energy, ICT, and Materials and industrial engineering).
The search interface is available in Finnish, English and Swedish.
Search results show the title, author (with full contact details), date and type of publication, language, ISBN code and an abstract. In some cases, the full publication may be downloaded free as a pdf file, in other cases it must be purchased.
