Overview
Background & policy context:
The whole project is driven by the need of support for new operational concepts and technical capabilities at national, Baltic FAB (Functional Airspace Block Lithuania-Poland) and international/EU levels.
Objectives:
This Action will complement the modernisation of the ATM system with the update of the A-SMGCS system. This modernization will ensure the provision of air traffic control services, covering ASMGCS, Tower Control and final Approach Control capabilities, and also the appropriate interoperability requirements with the new ATM system.
Methodology:
The A-SMGCS system will provide controllers with functions to handle more movements safely and efficiently within the Vilnius airport and to manage the airspace physical constraints, even in adverse weather conditions.
