Overview
The project proposes the analysis and the search for practical solutions to improve mobility between Zermatt and Valtournenche. The connection between the two stations has a strategic element and the ability to move from one side of the Matterhorn, especially in winter, is a decisive factor for competitiveness at the international level.
Taking into account that the management of the lifts depends on private companies, the towns of Zermatt and Valtournenche define the possible scenarios for the evolution of cross-border mobility in coming years. In particular, Valtournenche will explore new transport systems to regroup both from a planning point of view and for large infrastructure. This will allow us to compare the pattern of Zermatt, centred on the use of common transport public, with that of Valtournenche and Breuil, where the car is still the predominant means of transport.
