Overview
The main goal of the project is the definition of a graphical semiology for the representation of road data used for the MSE process and to formalise generalisation and aggregation rules in order to generate representation at any scale.
The project furnishes the following elements:
- Definition of representation requirements for MSE processes
- Determination of an adapted graphical semiology
- Suggestion of generalisation and aggregation rules and their application
- Definition of a generalisation / aggregation procedure
- Validation of the concept of generalisation with a prototype
- Analysis of the impact on VSS norms (data catalog and geometries)
- Defining performance requirements for the EMS process
- Determining a suitable graphic semiology
- Proposal for generalization and aggregation rules and their applications
- Definition of the approach for the generalisation / aggregation
- Validation of the concept of generalisation prototype
- Analyse the impact on standards (catalog data and geometries)

Results
The search result should contribute to the establishment of the standard modeling geometries roads. In addition, the semiotics of recommendations may facilitate communication between cantons and FEDRO.
Based on international research projects and whites paper-based providers of GIS (ESRI, Intergraph, etc.), generalisation and aggregation rules for roads will be identified and validated against the needs arising from the management of roads. In addition, semiotics will be defined according to the needs of FEDRO and the cantons.
