ARENA IV
Overview
Objectives:
ARENA aims to support the community with knowledge and practical solutions for user charging, provide knowledge and dissemination in an international context and develop a center for research and innovation around user charging and ITS.
ARENA´s goals are to:
- Be a venue for user fees
- Develop user fees for infrastructure financing and policy instruments
- Develop evaluation model for mileage tax
- Develop Swedish systems of user charging
- Secure the integrity of distance charges
- Analyze the long-term development
- Develop innovation environment around the user charging
Result and Expected Effects: Deliver decision support and long-term knowledge concerning the use of user charges in the transport sector, such as: proposals on the implementation of user charges for infrastructure financing and policy instrumentsmethod for the evaluation of mileage tax, concepts for the introduction of charging for heavy vehicles and passenger cars, tender documents for privacy protection in distance-based charges; knowledge of how long-term transport system development affect user charging further developed innovation environment and knowledge sharing network
Methodology:
The project is implemented in the form of six thematic work packages and two horizontal WPs: communication and dissemination and project management and administration.
Different stakeholders from science, public and private sector of the community will collaborate in the project to solve significant challenges in the transport sector. Particular emphasis is placed on the dissemination of results in an international context. A steering committee and a reference group will be established to control and support for project activities.
