Overview
The C-Roads Platform is a joint initiative of European States for testing and implementing cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) in a harmonised and interoperable way. C-ITS services allow effective data exchange through wireless communication technologies between components and actors of the transport system to improve road safety and efficiency of transport. The pilots will take place on the public roads in the city of Zalaegerszeg.
While the first phase of C-Roads Platform focused on corridor issue, the second phase of the C-Road Platform will further work on the piloting Day 1.5 and Day 2 C-ITS service, promote the integration of cities and the rollout of C-ITS in urban areas.
The C-Roads 2 Hungary pilot (Zalaegerszeg) builds on the experiences of the pilot project in the city of Győr, implemented under CEF Action 2016-HU-TMC-0216-M (C-ROADS Hungary). It also upgrades the system, implements new use cases and supports the creation of the urban test environment for the autonomous and connected vehicles in the town of Zalaegerszeg linked to the Automative Proving Ground Zala (ZalaZone).
