Clean Urban Transport Fleet Renewal
Overview
Background & policy context:
This Action has been selected in the context of the CEF Blending facility Call, where the CEF support is coupled with a substantial investment by a financial institution.
Objectives:
The project aims to deploy a new bus fleet powered with low and zero emission fuels as well as associated infrastructure in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona on the Mediterranean Corridor.
By supporting the shift to low and zero emission transport, especially in urban and interurban areas, the Action is contributing to the objectives of the European Green Deal.
Methodology:
In total 107 buses will be deployed, of which 61 will be electric buses and 46 CNG Hybrid buses. The project will also deploy 61 overnight charging points (50/150 kW) across 3 bus depots and 9 opportunity charging points (500 kW) located in the streets along 3 specific bus lines.
