Objectives:
Development of modal split approach determining the relevant decision factors to answer important questions in freight transport by freight models sensitive to particular measures.
Methodology:
A key indicator for the Swiss transport authorities is the level of modal split between different freight modes. To develop and formulate necessary modal parameters, a new sensitive measure "Modal Split Approach" has been introduced for road and rail traffic including intermodal transport. This approach comes in addition to the existing variables "time" and "price", different features that transport and logistics companies offer to their customers. Case studies are considered as plausible for demonstrating this new approach. The project is from the Swiss region.
