Overview

Background & policy context:

The Sava river marks part of the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Action aims at removing a major road bottleneck between the two countries by constructing a 660-metre-long bridge across the Sava river, in Svilaj, on the Rhine-Danube Corridor. T

he action is part of a global project covering the whole cross-border section of motorway A5 from Sredanci Interchange in Croatia to Odžak in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Objectives:

The action consists of two activities:

  • Project management, including communication and visibility, and
  • Bridge construction of the Croatian part

Once completed, the Action will have a positive socio-economic impact in terms of reduction in travel time and vehicle operating costs and enhancement of the economic competitiveness of the concerned regions.
