Overview
Cathodic protection of the reinforcing steel could offer in many practical cases a cost effective measure for restoration of chloride contaminated reinforced concrete structures. Much experience is available in the USA and UK. In Switzerland a field test with different cathodic protection systems in the San-Bernardino tunnel has been performed.
The assessment of the corrosion state of post-tensioned tendons is a very difficult task and no established method exists. Half-cell potential measurements along the duct or RIMT are techniques under evaluation.
