Overview
The pavement surface deterioration is a cause of the decrement of pavement serviceability and hence the road safety. The traffic load and climatic influences affecting the pavement are a basic source of the degradation. In combination with material parameters of pavement layers, with fatigue and with change of strength and structural parameters, the surface quality degrades in sequence.
The loss of surface skid resistance, ruts creation, and surface destruction are the most important consequences. The development of time forecast of the parameters has to be based on exact knowledge of processes and of the material properties changing in dependence on conditions affecting the pavement structure. The basic source of creation of functions of surface degradation is an analysis of time variation parameters.

In the framework of the project there was published following article:
THE INFLUENCE OF PAVEMENT SURFACE TEXTURE AND TYPE OF MEASURING TYRE ON VALUES OF FRICTION COEFFICIENT
The article deals with the measurement of geometric and physical characteristics, which are used for describing of the current skid resistance value of the road pavement surface. The measurements were performed on selected road sections with different asphalt surface in order to examine the widest possible representation of asphalt mixtures used in Slovakia. There were performed measurements of macrotexture, microtexture and measurements of longitudinal friction coefficient. The measurements of friction coefficient were performed by means of device TWO (Traction Watcher One), which is the property of Centre of Excellence, University of Žilina.
