European Ultra-Charge Roll Out Project - Electric
European OEMs are investing in a new generations of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), able to drive up to 500 km, significantly increasing the range compared to EVs today. To support these BEV, the EUROP-E Action will roll out a pan-EU network of 340 High Power Charging (Ultra Charging - UC) stations (future proof up to 350 kW) in 13 EU Member States at an average distance of 120 km along Core Network Corridors and the Core Network Roads, focusing on highway locations, urgently needed to increase consumer confidence.
The grant leverages the deployment of a network of up to 485 UC stations in 23 European countries based on own equity and debt financing. It is in line with other awarded CEF projects, filling the gaps to enable pan-European electric driving. EUROP-E is driven by IONITY, a Joint Venture, recently established by BMW, Daimler, Ford and Volkswagen Group to share the risk and accelerate deployments. It is open for all EVs supporting the European charging standard.
The availability of next generation BEVs and the EUROP-E network along with the support of the OEMs communication will create trust in e-mobility and accelerate mass market adoption. The network will be complementary to existing charging infrastructure in metropolitan areas and is broadly supported by site partners, ministries and other industrial players.
