Hansalink 2
Overview
Background & policy context:
The Action is part of a larger Global Project aiming at increasing capacity in the MoS link, mitigating climate change and maintaining an attractive maritime transport service for users.
Objectives:
The Action aims at updating an important maritime link between the German TEN-T core port Lübeck-Travemünde and the Finnish TEN-T core network port Helsinki, improving connectivity for the TEN-T Scandinavian-Mediterranean core network corridor.
The Action focuses on providing shore-side electricity as an alternative fuel for vessels while at berth, optimising the use of the existing terminals and improving IT and data documentation, data security and efficient communication.
Methodology:
To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, the following activities will be performed:
- Installation of onshore power plants in each port with a minimum power output of 1.5 MW in order to reduce noise, air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions during port stays.
- Port handling capacity improvement through digitalisation (3D-model of the terminal in Lübeck-Travemünde, implementation of new gates) and optimised gates processes including new gates (one-gate system in Helsinki)
- Improving logistics chain processes by digitalising operative and administrative processes and promoting efficiency and data security.
