Overview

Objectives:

In future, LiDAR sensors will be crucial, in conjunction with Radar and cameras, to enable robust autonomous driving. Although there are several LiDAR technologies known that compete against each other, there is no technology leading the market as a future automotive-qualified, long-rang, low-cost LiDAR solution. Therefore, LiDcAR’s main objective is the identification of the leading key LiDAR technology that will pave the way for the future LiDAR product – made in Austria.

Methodology:

This will be achieved by performing lab-based technology evaluations, realization of experimental prototypes, LiDAR metrology development, and execution of extensive and reproducible in-field tests in the ALP.Lab test region. Furthermore, a strong focus is put on the identification and strengthening of synergies between ALP.Lab and the project consortium.
