Results

The project has identified  major barriers in implementation of international developments. Knowledge about the barriers was gathered, in the shape of 3 long tracks:

  1. Electric cars, with electricity as the alternative energy form
  2. Hydrogen as an energy carrier in transport, both in fuel cells and combustion engines
  3. The biofuels biodiesel and ethanol

Crucial results and effects of the knowledge about the alternative fuels:
The focus is given on technological development and implementation of alternative fuels in the transport sector. It seems that many actors forget to take into account non-technological barriers. Even if it is technically possible - in some cases also economically. there are often  problems with transition to alternative fuels due to  other conditions that prevent implementation.

Unintended effects appear and need a for new infrastructure and change of knowledge, attitudes and transport habits are underestimated.
