Overview

Background & policy context:

In connection with the increase in car traffic since the early nineties is increasingly violated Law No. 361/2000 Coll. because of wrong parking. Often such vehicles constitute an obstacle to the horizons and thereby reduce the threat to safety and in particular vulnerable road users (parking close to the crossings, close to bus stops, at the outlet paths, etc.).

Abroad we can often see to strengthen compliance with this ban  using flexible bollards that make up the visual physical barrier to vehicles, but after you place your vehicle and do not deform the solid barrier, which could endanger the case, for example, motorcyclist skidding. In the Czech Republic the use of these elements is missing and the aim is to show the possibility of their use and creation of basic procedures for their installation (deployment, etc.).

Objectives:

The main objective of the project is to increase road safety in urban areas and to increase the traffic flow, which will be achieved by improving the sight distances by strengthening the ban on the use of flexible regulatory space in the vicinity of intersections and other locations where illegally parked vehicles prevent outlook.

The main outcome of the project will be certified methodology, which will include findings regarding the possibility of using not only control bollards in the associated transport space, but also in the main traffic area. Here will be used as a supporting element of compliance with traffic rules, thereby improving safety and reducing the need for surveillance for the principles of the police parking and stopping vehicles in places where the sight  will be  obstructed.
