Overview
The goal of the present project of industrial research is the development of an efficient and validated methodology of drag reduction of automobile vehicles (up to 10%) using integrated MMEMS synthetic microjets (MMEMS: Micro-Magneto-Electro-Mechanical-Systems). The aim is the reduction of greenhouse gas and air pollutant emissions.
This project concerns a finalised research for industrial needs leading to a notable improvement of existing vehicles or performances of the future vehicles with important outputs in terms of production, company creation, societal and environmental impacts.
The program will be split into two converging axis:
- Numerical calibration and experimental work using MMEMS SJ on a generic automobile geometry at reduced scales and representative of a scale 1 vehicle in terms of flow.
- The development of innovative solutions to support the array of such integrated micro-actuators directly on a real vehicle and the evaluation of obtained gains on a scale 1 vehicle in aerodynamic, aero acoustic, and climatic wind tunnels.
