Overview

Background & policy context:

The Action is part of the GAINN_IT Global Project and refers to the construction of a LNG multimodal facility in the Core port of Venice located on the Baltic-Adriatic and Mediterranean Core Network Corridors.

Objectives:

The Action aims at accelerating the deployment of the alternative fuels network in the North-East of Italy. The new LNG port storage facility in Venice aims to supply the road, maritime and inland waterways transport modes.

In the long run, the Action will contribute to the reduction of both air pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions in maritime and road transport in the area of the port of Venice. The Venice LNG facility will be completely dedicated to LNG distribution as an alternative fuel for trucks and ships.

Methodology:

The works relate to the construction and testing of the main LNG storage tank meaning the critical material procurement, primary containment, inner details, secondary containment, insulation and appurtenances (Activity 1) and the completion of the plant consisting in the equipment installation, piping, Electric & Instruments (E&I), auxiliaries’ installation, commissioning and start-up (Activity 2).
