Background & Policy context
To help reduce accidents and casualties on the road network by improving advice on the appraisal of transport projects and monitoring of accident trends in greater detail.
Objectives
The main objective is to provide a facility for linking road accident, traffic flow and highway inventory databases. When completed, it will be the first time the Department has the ability to undertake research (e.g. safety, congestion monitoring and forecasting, speed flow) on compatible bases.
