Overview
The AROMAT project aims to address two important issues that affect our modern society; the environment and the supply of rail services. For example, France is expected to see a quadrupling of intercity and regional movements by 2020. The railway sector must continue research efforts to improve its offering and propose innovative solutions to meet the growing demand for transport while minimising the impact on the environment.
To meet this need, it is necessary to challenge existing architectures, such as the surface-mounted magnets found in the engines of the AGV and new Tramways, and perform optimisations to achieve the objectives outlined below.
It must have the following characteristics:
- Efficient and light motor
- High efficiency
- Low radiated noise
- Low maintenance
- Increased reliability
