Background & Policy context

Transportation needs should be met by transport means which are environmentally friendly. It is necessary to design, develop and manage transport infrastructure as a complex system of transport which must be complementary and which must cooperate rationally. 

Objectives

The aim of this research was to analyse the transport strategy of chosen towns in the Czech Republic in terms of their sustainability, whether and how these strategies are implemented into practice and if sustainable transport development and integration of transport research of the Czech Republic is reflected within the European context.

Results

The main result of the project is a certified methodology setting out the principles and methods of coordination of transport and land use planning. Another result is the draft of the directive to introduce mobility plans as a part of the development plan in Czech cities. 

Innovation aspects

The topic of integration of transport and land use planning is still quite new in the Czech Republic and any legislative improvements focusing on this issue can be viewed as innovative.
