Overview

Background & Policy context

For all generations, unrestricted individual mobility is crucial for social exchange and participation. A self-determined life in old age therefore requires support in coping with distances.

Objectives

The COMPAGNO project is developing a personalised companion to enable persons with limited mobility to travel independently. Through a combination of technical assistance systems, the organisation of professional and voluntary service providers and a user-oriented tailoring of these services for the entire mobility chain, the complete travel route from the starting point to the destination is covered.

Methodology

The technical assistance system is based on information about the local and regional conditions of the mobility Services  and routes. Existing barriers (e. g. stairs) are recorded and stored in a database with their location information and classification.
