Overview
The environment was one of the crucial fields for considering the Czech Republic's state of readiness for EU accession. The proposed solution of the R&D 801/210/110 project - "Prescribing the methods for meeting the Czech Republic's obligations, adopted at the international conferences in the field of transport influence on the environment" whose aim was primarily to expand the space for dialogue between state organisations and business and social partners with a link to international recommendations and requirements, was also outlined in that way.
It included arrangement of a systems approach for meeting the Czech Republic's obligations, adopted at the international conferences in the field of transport influence on the environment, was critical contribution of project's solution.
The objective was to propose adequate measures, or more precisely prescribe the methods needed to meet the Czech Republic's obligations and recommendations, resulting from the conclusions of international conferences in the field of transport influence on the environment, in the specific conditions of the Czech Republic.
There was a package of measures created in order to lower environmental stress caused by transport.
It was executed in the form of identification licences. It serves as a working paper for decision making on behalf of sustainable transport.
The Transport and the Environment Guideline is intended for teachers at elementary and high schools. It covers the issues of education towards sustainable transportation in the Czech Republic comprehensively.

Results
The main result was a proposal for the self-imposed certified management mobility programme called "Determination of Statistic Life Value - Basic Variable to Assess External Costs of Accidents".
It is possible to be used as a guideline for reckoning serious and minor injuries in traffic accidents. An aggregate table of quantification of the external costs in transport has been compiled.
Technical Implications
Establishing of the gas chromatography lab, using state-of-the-art air sampling devices and professionalism contributed to that the workplace has ranked to the leading position in the transport industry.
Policy implications
Results of the research that can contribute to solution of transport-environmental issues, if applied, can be summarised into the following conclusions:
- Package of measures created in order to lower environmental stress, caused by transport, is a synthesis of the analysis of the obligations, adopted at the international conferences dealing with those topics; package's been elaborated in the form of identification licences, serving as a working paper for decision making on behalf of sustainable transport;
- Elaboration of Transport and the Environment guideline intended for teachers at elementary and high schools, comprehensively covering the issues of education towards sustainable transportation in the Czech Republic;
- Utilisation of research results as a source material for further effective advancement in the education about the issues of transport vs. environment, especially in terms of changing the patterns of behaviour, attitudes and values;
- Proposal for the self-imposed certified management mobility programme;
- Statistic life value has been determined as a basic variable to assess external costs of the accidents, to be possibly used as a guideline for reckoning serious and minor injuries in traffic accidents;
- An aggregate table of quantification of the external costs in transport has been compiled, explaining contribution of individual means of transport to total volume of externalities;
- The workplace has ranked to the leading position in the transport industry thanks to establishing of the gas chromatography lab, using state-of-the-art air sampling devices and its professionalism. It is able to provide e.g. complex solutions of the issues of distribution, concentration and chemistry of solid particles in the air, including evaluation of the risks for human and for the environment.
