The SAFE project developed new tools and methodologies for the dynamic quantification of damage suffered by a ship. The project aimed to develop a dynamic decision support tool to assess the damage that occurred to the systems caused by fire or flood and portable devices to assist the crew in activities aimed to maximize safety and the residual operational capabilities of the ship. The new software and hardware tools were applied to Safe Return to Port (SRtP) regulation, with reference to the requirements of the IMO-SOLAS regulations.
